"Inspired by a fall forest fire from his youth our chef then chars the potatoes. I mean, really burns them. Then a walnut highlights the earthy smell of fall decay."

“Inspired by a fall forest fire from his youth our chef then chars the potatoes. I mean, really burns them. Then a walnut highlights the earthy smell of fall decay.”

This is just outstanding. Real Kitchen — a cafe that serves meals to go in Chicago that happens to have a lovely sense of humor — decided to make a video of their Halloween costume: Alinea, the ultra-modernist fine dining restaurant from Grant Achatz.

In the video, Real Kitchen playfully and creatively spoofs Chicago’s most famous restaurant by “dressing up” as Alinea for Halloween, thereby removing their sign (“because you should know where we are located”), reinventing roast chicken ( “a freeform chicken explosion”), and serving 45 course meals and wine pairings to go. But perhaps best of all, they create their version of Alinea’s famous dessert-on-the-table … made for takeout, for your convenience.

Just watch the video:
